What Messy Church is doing

I found myself waxing lyrical in a recent email about the oddness of what we’re doing in Messy Church. It’s a funny time to be a Christian – as to some, this description of church sounds old hat, and to others, it’s incomprehensible.’We’re doing a very weird and revolutionary type of church, I think – it’s embedded in the local church and firmly bonded to it, but daring to be different and take the church members on a journey of discipleship and mission which is new to many of them. It’s turning church members into ministers. It’s congregation planting. It’s gentle but topsy-turvy and is going to take longer than we want to change the attitudes of the Church towards outward-facing mission and true hospitality.’
